About Attorney Margaret Wadsworth
I am often described as approachable and friendly, but I'm also an extremely determined and fierce advocate. I excel at navigating through complex issues; I take people's problems and get right down to the legal solutions available. I consider you a person who it is my privilege to serve and who I have a duty to zealously represent. I return phone calls and emails on the same day if possible, or if not, then on the following day. I know how important your legal matters are to you and I consider it my responsibility to keep you informed about the status of your case.
My background I grew up in Massachusetts. My first job at age 15 was in a restaurant and I was a manager by the time I was 16. As a teenager I worked many hours and saved money to go to college. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts where I attended school full-time, worked full-time, and graduated summa cum laude in 1991. After college I worked in residences for the developmentally disabled and in shelters for homeless families and teenagers prior to entering law school. I received my Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston in 1994. During law school I clerked for the domestic violence unit of the prosecutor's office, a civil rights law firm, an employment discrimination law firm, and a legal services office. I was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in December 1994. I first worked as a legal consultant to a foster care organization seeking to facilitate more children being placed in permanent homes. I later worked in the financial services industry at Fidelity Investments, and then for biotech company Genzyme (now Sanofi Genzyme). I then entered private practice and began focusing on assisting families with preserving their money in order to secure their future. I moved to South Carolina in 2012 and was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in May of 2013. I opened the Wadsworth Law Firm, LLC in August 2013 in Conway, South Carolina and moved the firm to it's permanent home in Myrtle Beach in October of 2014. I'm a member of ElderCounsel where I frequently participate in continuing legal education. I also participate in trainings with the National Center on Law and Elder Rights. I love South Carolina and feel as if I have finally come home. I support Coastline Women's Center, and animal rescue groups. I enjoy mentoring young women and helping to care for homeless animals.
